Dr Beatriz Monteiro is a veterinarian, researcher, author and speaker. She has a PhD in chronic pain from the University of Montreal and a Diploma in International Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law from the University of Edinburgh.
Dr Monteiro worked at the University of Montreal while also enrolled in a residency programme of the American College of Animal Welfare. Her research was focused on pain management and how to better evaluate and treat pain in animals. She is a past chair of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association - Global Pain Council (WSAVA-GPC).
